Autism, ADHD, and Anxiety.
What We Do
Counsellors are educated to recognise complex emotional, cognitive, and relational patterns. They recognise the variety of ways that problems from the past might lead to relational or emotional pain. Essentially, they support you in letting go of negative patterns and developing more satisfying ways of being by helping you make sense of such knots and kinks.
When addressing co-occurring anxiety and mood problems, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) has been shown to be an effective treatment for people with high-functioning autism (HFA). It is, however, important to understand that individualised approaches are required because not all people with HFA will respond to CBT or any other treatment in the same way. Some people with HFA could have trouble understanding abstract ideas or find it difficult to participate in therapy. As a result, it is advised that interventions be tailored to the individual's specific requirements, attributes, and preferences.
We are all different, and that includes the autistic community. Horizon counselling individualises the sessions, which could include the following:
Increase the use of visuals.
Describe the distinctive features of emotions in detail.
Develop individualised goal outcomes.
Build and strengthen emotional intelligence.
Highlight the importance and development of targeting skills that specifically target replacement behaviours.
Types of therapy
Talking therapies include counselling and psychotherapy. Through counselling, people might develop an understanding of the aspects of their lives that are causing them problems. Together, the therapist and client create a secure, private, and judgment-free setting that provides people with the time and space to better understand themselves.

CBT looks at how you think (cognitive) and how that affects what you do (behaviour). This will help you identify thinking that may not be helping you and how this affects you physically and in how you act. It can help you cope with stresses and anxieties of life and teach you techniques to deal with these.

This therapy can help you discover solutions through compassionate and non-judgmental listening. This therapy gives you the space to find the problems that are holding you back and come up with solutions to make appropriate changes that will benefit you. You will receive support to enhance your personal growth, enabling you to navigate current challenges and build a strong foundation for the future.

This therapy aims to help participants address psychological issues of immediate concern, with a wider goal of increasing long term mental wellbeing by building self-awareness, understanding and acceptance. Psychodynamic therapy helps clients understand their emotions and unconscious patterns of behaviour.
