Meet Your Counsellor

It is my belief that we all, at some point, could benefit from some form of counselling, and working in an open, honest and non-judgemental way can and does help people achieve their mental health goals.

Ray Cordon - Horizon Counselling Limerick

Hello, my name is Raymond Cordon. I have a BSc (hons) degree in integrative counselling and psychotherapy, which is accredited by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). In 2021, I completed a diploma in autism studies, which was of great interest to me and the work I do with ASD Ireland.

I have also completed a diploma in advanced cognitive-behavioral therapy and a diploma in addiction studies. Continuous development is an ongoing process in counselling and psychotherapy and a requirement for any therapist.

My decision to become a counsellor and psychotherapist comes from my interest in human development and wellbeing. This really started during my time in Africa in 2004 working with Malawi orphan care, which taught me a lot about human nature and human sacrifice.

I followed this up by working with the Le Cheile restorative justice program as a mentor to young people going through probation services. Listening to their stories gave me a truly clear understanding of how the past can have a major impact on the person we become. Exploring this, if we choose to do so, can have an incredibly positive affect on our everyday lives.

I have an open and friendly manner, which allows clients the space and freedom to explore any issues they may be having. I am a big lover of the outdoors, and I practice my own mindfulness in the mountains of Ireland and around the world.

Horizon Counselling & Psychotherapy

Horizon Counselling and Psychotherapy Limerick

Horizon counselling & psychotherapy is based on a non-judgmental, open and friendly ethos. This is essential for the work to begin and to help with the many issues clients can face in their lives. We will listen to any presenting issues and help to alleviate the pain, suffering and anxiety these may bring. Alleviating anxiety is an area we specialise in, helping the client to really look at the negative thoughts that feed their anxiety and suffering. Our collaborative approach to counselling is at the heart of everything we do.

Currently, I work with ASD Ireland, working with adults with autism and parents of autistic family members. I also offer a one to one service to help work through the issues clients may have in their lives. This can be done online or in the counselling room in ASD Ireland.

Let’s Talk!

We cannot change our past but we can change how we react to it, so it no longer has the power to affect how we live in the present.
